Oramics and Kashev Tapes join forces to sound the alarm and international solidarity call. This compilation of 93 tracks was put together to support the feminist movement in the autonomous area of Northern Syria.
Rojava established itself not only in opposition to the Turkish military regime but also as a grassroots movement redefining the future of the region on its own terms. The Kurdish resistance is advocating for women’s equality, LGBTQIA rights, ecology, sustainability, and direct democracy. It has created its own strategies outside western political pressure. Turkish invasion destroys lives but also hope for change. The attacking army has superior technology and simply “more of everything” to suppress the revolution in the cruellest manner. We want to honour the resistance in northern Syria and the risk people take to defend their autonomy. Their struggle is deadly dangerous.
The compilation is a statement against the war, which benefits the capitalist and imperialist machinery. It’s campaigning to raise awareness about the struggle of the Kurdish movement and collecting money to support Foundation Of The Free Women in Rojava‘ (Weqfa Jina Azad A Rojava. This women‘s organization is one of the last in the area.
When faced with such absolute violence, we asked what can we do to support this struggle? How can we engage our community and our skills to defend Rojava? We point out the emancipating history of club music and how it has been connected to equality and freedom movements since the beginning. Although we chose to make music, sometimes very loud and noisy, we can never cease to listen and learn. It’s the Kurdish movement that should be celebrated and in control of their own story. That’s how we understand being an ally.
Mastering Engineering for FOQL
Stay tuned for releases coming soon…
FOQL stands for Justyna Banaszczyk – experimental electronic and dance music artist, author of radio dramas, film scores, and video game soundtracks. Her tracks bring to mind IDM and industrial, but their most distinctive feature are complex rhythms and often harsh sounds, constant exploration and contradicting the artist’s own musical identity – a trait that is reflected in her largely improvised live performances.
