We're currently at work on an exciting new film and jazz music recording.Along with a team of SAE Institute Berlin students from the Audio and Film departments, we're creating a promo film of the live recording of Aron Ottingon's & Jakub Gudz's session preparing for the tour with the new album Team Aquatic, recently released with Blue Note and Universal Music France.Originally hailing from New Zealand where he became known as a child prodigy with the piano, Aron Ottignon now divides his time between Paris and Berlin and has just released his first album under the moniker of his band Team Aquatic. The other member of the trio who performed for us at the recording was the very talented Kuba Gudz, on drums and SPD.The film will be a hybrid of documentary and music video: serving the dual purpose of documenting the process of recording the band playing two of their latest tracks live in the studio at SAE, as well as being a stylish, dynamic film that captures the mood of the musicians at work and their impressive abilities to combine the ambition of jazz with pop melodies, echoes of world music and electronic effects. We shot the film over one evening in October, and kept going into the wee hours of the morning. There was an impressively large crew involved as the filming was done simultaneously with the live audio recording. We shot with two main cameras, a secondary camera fixed on Aron's keyboard, as well as a GoPro to get a bird's eye view of all the action. We captured two of the tracks from the brand new Team Aquatic album, Ocean and Stonefish. We're very much looking forward to sharing the results of the film with you here when it is ready!Thank you to the Audio Team:
