FOQL stands for Justyna Banaszczyk – experimental electronic and dance music artist, author of radio dramas, film scores, and video game soundtracks. Her tracks bring to mind IDM and industrial, but their most distinctive feature are complex rhythms and often harsh sounds, constant exploration and contradicting the artist’s own musical identity – a trait that is reflected in her largely improvised live performances.
126-track Benefit Compilation FOR GRASSROOTS OF LGBTQIA+ Community in Poland
“Total Solidarity astonishes with its consistency of quality, if not genre, offering versions of virtually every kind of big room, side room, chillout area, bedroom, backroom, and interzone soundtrack. ”
“‘TOTAL SOLIDARITY’ compilation raises funds for LGBTQIA+ organisations. The compilation features tracks from the likes of Air Max ‘97 (pictured), Violet, TSVI, Lee Gamble, and Rrose”
This work involved the recording engineering of voiceovers with all of the Stratofizyka artists reading the poem by Dagmara Kraus [POL] in a studio night session assisted by Julia Borelli.
Our task was to produce a high quality resource for the sound designer Lenka Kocisova [CZE] to incorporate into the live performance.
The show includes a choreography and performance by Hen [USA] and visuals by Alessandra Leone [ITA]. It premiered for Heroines of Sound Festival at Radialsystem - Berlin in December 2018.
Following our events in London, Berlin, New York and Paris, Sydney is now the latest city to host our book launch and film screening. The anthology book “Little Houses, Big Forests (desire is no light thing)” was published by Repeater Books (UK) and distributed worldwide by Penguin/ Random House.
The accompanying film, “In the dark, dark room” was shot on location at Mustarinda, an artist residency in a remote part of Northern Finland. The Sydney launch and screening was hosted by inner city bookstore, Radio Free Alice.
Siouxzi read a piece of short fiction from the book, the film was screened and then a book signing took place afterwards. As Sydney is Siouxzi’s home city, it was a great thrill to finally present the work on home soil among good friends and family.Stay tuned for further launches around Australia.
Women* have historically been the object of sexual exploitation and fetishism, however that type of objectification increases when it comes to women* of colour and LGBTQIA+. Of course, these are not the only topics of importance but a community that requires more visibility and solidarity.
The WE ARE NOT SAME SAME event highlights the misconception that all Asian countries can be placed under the one umbrella, without regard or respect towards their differences in culture, individuality and history. This event will be spotlighting the implications encircling exotification, sexism, objectification, racism, stereotyping and diaspora. The goal is to create an intersectional feminist platform for people of Asian descent and allies to come together, share experiences, begin discourse and find empowerment.
In October 2018 Rey KM Domurat recorded and mixed Sissip EP in collaboration with second engineer Julia Borelli. The album was released in November 2018.
